While I normally welcome attention to my site, Blue Turtle Station is now the victim of the unfortunate attack of spoofers. This not a virus or worm, you are in no danger, nor is this site, but you need to be aware in case you receive mail from my domain name.

Spoofing is the unethical use of my domain name sending out unauthorized mail. There are currently no laws against this act. If you receive any mail from this site requesting any personal information, please do NOT provide it to them. It is NOT coming from me. I will never authorize, nor request personal information such as SS #, bank account #, or passwords. If this happens please ignore the request, and report it to your server or Yahoo.

I am cooperating with Yahoo to correct the problem, it should go away in a couple of weeks. Educate yourself and others, please go to the following Carnegie-Mellon University site, they are the premiere resource fighting spoofing. http://www.cert.org/tech_tips/email_spoofing.html

These attacks while seemingly harmless, are not. If you have a website, it can happen without notice and wreck havoc on your life. I would encourage you to write to legislators and contact local, state, and national law enforcement agencies insisting these acts be outlawed, and carry serious consequences for each attack.
